Done with sin

1 Peter 4:1 (The Passion Translation) says:

"Since Christ has suffered and died for us, we must arm ourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.

"Being "done with sin" means embracing the freedom that Christ offers through His sacrifice. Before coming to Jesus, sin had dominion over us, but through His death and resurrection, we are set free from its power. This freedom calls us to live in alignment with God’s Word, rejecting sinful desires and choosing righteousness. It is not about perfection, but rather a daily decision to live empowered by the Holy Spirit, who equips us to resist temptation and live according to God's will.

Being “done with sin” is not about self-effort or striving to be perfect—it is about surrendering to the grace of God, embracing the freedom He offers, and allowing the Holy Spirit to empower us to live as new creations. Though the struggle against sin continues, we are no longer enslaved to it. Instead, we are called to grow in holiness, allowing the fruits of the Spirit to flourish in our lives. Being "done with sin" is a journey of sanctification—an ongoing process of surrendering to God, relying on His strength, and walking in the freedom Christ has already secured. Through His grace, we can experience true peace, joy, and victory over sin, knowing that we are new creations in Him
